Dear Readers,
We are having a Readathon contest to make reading even more fun and
exciting. It's really easy to play. Every time you read or listen to someone read
for 20 minutes, have an adult initial a star on the Readathon chart.
When you read 500 minutes, you will win _______________________________. When you read 1.000 minutes, you will win ______________________________. When you read 1,500 minutes you will win ______________________________, and when you finish all 2,000 minutes, you will win ________________________.
The class that reads the most will win an ice cream party. The class that raises
the most money for KIDS FOR KIDS will also win an ice cream party. If the same
class reads the most and raises the most money for KIDS FOR KIDS, that class
will win two ice cream parties!
This year, we will be raising money with our reading for KIDS FOR KIDS,
an organization that helps children in Israel who have been hurt by terrorism.
It's really easy! All you have to do is find a sponsor who will agree to pay you
a penny for every minute you read, or your sponsor can donate $5, $10, or
any amount of money to KIDS FOR KIDS if you finish the whole 2,000 minutes.
Sponsors can be your parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors - just
about anyone. You can have as many sponsors as you want. You can even
sponsor yourself! When you find a sponsor, just fill out the Sponsor Pledge
Sheet. Then when you finish the Readathon, call your sponsors up and ask
for their donations. Anyone can make a donation to KIDS FOR KIDS even if they
are not a sponsor. Checks should be made out to KIDS FOR KIDS.
The Readathon will begin ________________ and end ___________________.
We hope you choose to join in on the fun and help kids in Israel. You can sign
up for the contest and get your chart and pledge sheet from the library.
Remember, during the Readathon, every minute you read is a mitzvah!
