Lebanon War Israeli Evacuees at K4K Camp
When Hizballah Terrorists in Lebanon shattered Israel peace this summer 3,970 rockets and missiles blanketed Northern villages, towns and cities. Haifa, Israel's 3rd largest city, alone, was hit 93 times. During the 34 days of the War, hundreds of thousands of northern residents were displaced or living in bomb shelters.
For many of those evacuees sent to Jerusalem , KIDS FOR KIDS stepped in to do their part. Camps for 130 girls and 125 boys were arranged for Haifa , Rechasim, and Afula youth. The camps were headquartered in the Old City , Mount Zion , and Metzad in the Judean Hills.
Activities included arts & crafts, swimming, sports, and day trips. Feedback from the 12 to 18 year olds told us they especially enjoyed the Water Park , the Western Wall Tunnel tours, and hiking in the Jerusalem mountains. Though deadly bombs had created their refugee status, our campers, in good spirits, participated in the traditional ‘color war’ including a finale of song, dance, a show, and a joyful mock wedding.
K4K thanks our generous donors for sponsoring these activities for our kids whose summer fun was unfortunately interrupted with violence and terrorism.
