Artists Fight Terrorism With Talents
Artists intuitively understand the therapeutic value of the art process. So when one Israeli artist saw the therapeutic programming KIDS FOR KIDS was employing for young victims of terrorism, she suggested an Art Exhibition & Sale. The idea gathered steam and within weeks, well-known artists in both North America and Israel donated their work for the benefit of the organization.
Early on in this recent reign of terrorism and violence which started four years ago, September 28, 2000, KIDS FOR KIDS has dedicated itself to mending the shattered lives of young survivors. K4K’s major focus is on emotional and psychological programming dealing with grief and the traumatic effects of terrorism. Among the variety of therapeutic programs are clinics, support groups, grief recovery counseling, and creative expressions such as writing workshops, Drama Troupes and Art Therapy. K4K's innovative spin of Narrative Therapy takes form in their Digital Storytelling Lab where children and parents create their own computerized DVD movies.
While many of histories most deadly medical diseases have been eradicated, the plague of terrorism has become a worldwide epidemic. The brutal wave of terrorism to hit Russia is just one recent example. KIDS FOR KIDS’ message is clear…each individual can make a difference in the lives of those affected by terrorism.
Motke Blum, Yaakov Agam, Judith Yellin, Yoram Ranaan, Eliahu Succot and Baruch Nachson are just a few of the score of artists who have come forward to help the KIDS.
The Art Show will be held in Jerusalem’s David Citadel Hotel (formally Hilton) 8am until 10pm, during the Sukkot holiday.
The creative artist may not be able to stop terrorism with their brush, but by reaching out, their artwork has the power to fund programs that will help innocent victims reclaim their lives and overcome grief and fear.
